Monthly Coordinator's Report

Overview
As usual, June was a great month for fieldwork despite some pretty big storms. The big highlights from this month are:
· TIP’s reach rate has nearly doubled from this time last year.
· TIP is preparing for “fair season.”
· We would like you to keep an eye out for Japanese Knotweed, Garden Valerian, Spotted Knapweed, and    Phragmites in July. 
· 19.0 ac of invasive species were treated by TIP & our partners, let us know if you’d like to get involved. 
· Menominee County passed a resolution to support TIP. 
· Our finances are looking strong for 2016.

July Events
9: Kid’s Fishing Day. 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Mill’s Fleet Farm, Antigo, WI. Bring your kids out for a fun and educational event focused on fishing. TIP will be sharing a booth on invasive species with the  Tri-County AIS Coordinator, John Preuss.  
15: Snail & Mussel Workshop. 9:30 AM—12:00 PM in Elton, WI. DNR experts presenting on both native and invasive snails and mussels in Wisconsin waters.  The workshop will cover topics such as life histories, identification, historical uses, and invasive species impacts.  We will also visit an area stream or lake and get hands on experience with monitoring and identification.  The best part is this opportunity is free to the public.
27-31: Langlade County Fair. Antigo, WI. Come checkout the shared TIP/Langlade County Land Conservation Department Booth at the Langlade County Fair! While supplies last, we will have      native plant seeds for you to take home with you.
28: Lumberjack RC&D Meeting. 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.  The July meeting is being held at the     Roadhouse at 3322 State Hwy 139 in Long Lake, WI. Please register by contacting Tracy Beckman at 715-369-9886. Breakfast is $5, Lunch & Breakfast $20 per person.

May 2016 Coordinator's Report

Overview
May started out hectic for TIP as we fought through the transition from office to field season. Fortunately, things smoothed out towards the end of the month. Here are the big highlights from this month:
· TIP’s reach is continuing to grow.
· We worked on invasive species identification with Fairview Elementary School Students.
· The WDNR released their invasive species priority lists.
· 32.6 ac of Wild Parsnip were treated by TIP’s Partners. 
· TIP’s logo will soon see some updates.
· TIP’s GLRI Pathways grant proposal for creating an educational booklet was approved.

Upcoming Events

June
9: TIP Dropbox Training. 1:00 PM Keshena, WI. TIP Coordinator, Chris Arrowood will be training everyone on how to use Dropbox to access TIP’s files. Everyone attending will also be shown briefly how to use some of TIP’s more complicated documents. 
14: Invasive Species ID Day. 1:00 PM—4:00 PM at the Antigo DNR Station. Tri-County AIS         Coordinator, John Preuss and TIP Coordinator, Chris Arrowood will be hosting a booth at the Antigo WDNR Ranger Station where anyone can bring in any aquatic or terrestrial invasive species they want identified. If you are unsure if it is invasive or not, you can still swing by and we can let you know for sure!
21: TIP Executive Committee Meeting. 11:00 AM Via conference call. Contact the coordinator if you are interested in attending this meeting.
21: Invasive Species Identification & Control Training. 1:00 PM—3:00 PM Langlade, WI. The    Timberland Invasives Partnership and some of our partners will be hosting a training on invasive species identification and management at the DNR Ranger Station in the Town of Langlade. This training will be targeted at Highway Department workers, anyone is invited to attend.  (Tentative)

March Coordinator's Report

Overview
Early warm weather has us eager to get out into the field, but there was still a lot of planning, for this year and next. Here are the highlights from this month:
· TIP reached almost 3 times our targeted number of people for March 2016.
· Another successful opportunity to work on educate a 4-H group on invasive species identification.
· Warm conditions and early snowmelt have given Garlic Mustard an early start.
· Partners are gearing up for the fight against Garlic Mustard.
· TIP Strategic Management Plan received revisions from the Invasive Species Management Action Team.
· TIP has submitted a grant proposal to the US Forest Service for GLRI for creating an educational booklet.
